Pointe du Hoc

Pointe du Hoc was Jesse's favorite WWII memorial we visited in Normandy.

Jesse stands in a German bunker at Point de Hoc.  The U.S. Rangers who assaulted these cliffs found the bunkers unmanned.

The unique topography was created by the U.S. artillery and bombs that rained down prior to the D-Day invasion.

During the attack, 225 U.S. Rangers scaled the cliffs, however only 90 of them were still standing after two days of fighting. They managed to disable the German artillery inland, paving the way for the invasion of France.

German bunkers still litter the landscape at Pointe du Hoc.
