This Christmas trip chose not to follow the very detailed script that took three months to design.
- Flights we were delayed a day due to the Blizzard of 2009 in DC.
- The Eurostar train broke down cancelling all trains for three days
- One country had to be x'd out and flights booked last minute
- Most of us went 2-3 days without sleep and kept on travelling
- A tired conductor absconded with our booked sleeper car so we fought in Polish for 2 hours to get it back
- Poland did not bring us the promised white Christmas
All the rest I forgot. The ones I remember are turning funny, and at the end of the trip, we were glad that we could be together.
After 8 days abroad, we brought my family back to our new home in Taunton. We took them on country walks, spent a Sunday playing pool and darts at the Royal Oak, introduced them to English food at the Globe Inn, and tried to get them to relax despite visiting Wells, Galstonbury and Bath in just a few days.
For New Years Eve, Chad and Brandon hung out with our English friends and watched the fireworks display launched off the London Eye (on the tele).
I was so lucky to have my whole family make the long trip out to England to share in our new life here. Thanks for coming!
The stuff of which family memories are made. We will look back on it as a "memorable" time together. In the meantime, my faith is in God's word which says, "He works all things together for good to those who love Him and are called according to His purposes"(Ro. 8:28,29). Thanks for allowing us the opportunity to travel with you to Europe.
