A UK Thanksgiving

When we first arrived in Taunton, everyone was eager to have us meet the other Americans in town.  I must have received Annie and Christian's number five different times before we met these two ladies with their husbands.  Both understand what it means to be far away from everything familiar and we instantly bonded discussing America and life as an expat.
The English claim ignorance of Thanksgiving providing us with the perfect opportunity for an American Feast.

Christian and John Zaal are seated on the left and Annie and Christian are on the right. This was only my second attempt at the daunting dinner, so it was a bit harrying.

Fresh turkey from the butcher in town.

Thanks to a spare door, we fit our large group of eight around the dining room table built to seat four.

I tried two amazing new recipes for the Thanksgiving this year that are now on the annual menu.  Gravy in the past has just provided that moistness to tie everything together.  The flavor in this gravy intensified the taste of every dish.  The pecan pie was the highlight of evening.   It takes a bit of work, but oh! the intense flavor!

We are so thankful for all the friends we have been given in this short time here in Taunton. It makes missing family and friends back home easier.
