The Sound of Music & Mozart

Salzburg, Austria is known as the birthplace of Mozart and the stage for the Sound of Music.  We avoided the Von Trapp tours and instead explored the city with its beautiful baroque architecture.

My favorite street.  Every shop has their own unique wrought iron sign.  The shops were far out of our price range, so instead we munched on street vendor pretzels and window shopped.

Jesse's favorite was the doughnut pretzel.  It was delicious and hugenourmously giganticly amazingly BIG!

The Austrians continue to create the origional ball ornament with their mouth blown eggs that are painstakingly hand painted.  Jesse let me splurge and buy one.  I thought it would break the whole journey home, but it survived!

We checked out an Austrian Beer hall. It was beautiful.  We stayed despite the smoke and 60 year old clientel.

The Mirabell garden in the shadow of the Salzburg castle was featured in the movie The Sound of Music.
