I was in love with Rothenburg from the moment I stepped through the medieval city gates and onto the cobblestone streets.
The whole town has remaind frozen in time with most the buildings still intact from the 13th century! This was my favourite destination from our Germany, Austria, and Prague excursion.
The view of the Rothenburg Marktplatz from the town hall spire. We climbed up early before the Asian tourists could clutter up the idyllic town.
Jesse being Jesse. We were actually inside the hotel when he made me take this picture.
Rothenburg celebrates Christmas year round. Almost all shops offer hand carved wooden ornaments and nativity scenes. We added a few to our ever growing collection of ornaments that we find on our travels.
Inside a Christmas store. It is a little blurry because Jesse took it from the hip. There is an outrageous story behind it all, or so Jesse tells me.
Rose - one of things i most appreciate about your blogs is learning what you like and don't like. apart from your constant facial expressions - which regularly are clear indications of what you like and don't like - i think i am less aware of your favorites as one who in the household didn't try to raise your voice over the many verbose individuals in the household. so here,in your blog, i get to enjoy you in some ways i did not even pick up at home.
ReplyDeleteBTW - the Brits climbed the stairs even earlier to get a pic of the square before the american tourists cluttered it up. :)
