Gingerbread White House

Once again, 3NE entered the National Institutes of Health Gingerbread House Contest. With no skills, plans to try to use fondant for the first time ever, and an ambitious plan, our house came out pretty fabulous. And since this is my blog, I am going to take credit for about 75% of this personal masterpiece. Between patient care, we made our White House in the nursing conference room. The walls are all homemade gingerbread, the windows are caramelized sugar, and the roof has been covered in fondant. (which I really need to read up on how to use. It did not like me!) You can't see it in these pictures, but there are Christmas lights inside making the windows light up. We were immensely proud of our house and declared it the winner, until we saw our neighbors. Wow, we need to professional bakers to become nurses on our unit.
And since my husband didn't see me for about 4 days while I made this house, I am retiring...
