San Diego

The NIH decided it would like to pay for me to go to San Diego for a conference. Since my plane ticket, food, and hotel were covered, I was able to to bring along Jesse for Valentines Day. The conference was an annual meeting of physicians, pharmacists and nurses on the topic of stem cell transplantation- one of the main events on our unit.
The hotel was incredible. here are some views from our room. I loved to watch the sun rise and set over the harbor.

Here is a shout-out to our friends in San Diego who represented CA with their hosting. Joe Ward took Jesse out on the town while I was at meetings all day. Joe and Jesse won some dough from the Indians then sampled the local breweries. The day ended with volleyball on the beach. Jesse claimed it was the best day of the year so far. Good job Joe.

We were served amazing food all day every day which was definitely a highlight for me! Bek and Jose introduced us to Extraordinary Desserts. Wow. Why don't they have one of these in MD? Mike and Sarah were also in town and joined us. On our flight home they were so nice to the flight attendants that they were served wine from the 1st class. Hmm... we have to learn their skills. It was fun getting to know you Mike and Sarah!

Bekah took us out to Torry pines for some Southern CA hiking.

After the conference was over we were able to spend a day at the zoo ending with games at the Jimenez hacienda and delicious Salmon. Thanks for putting us up for the night!
Good times. We will return!
