Who says British Food Tastes Bad?

There as been no rain in 3 weeks.  Yes, early summer must be the perfect time to be on this wet wet island.  Sunny and 24 degrees(75 Fahrenheit).  So how have we been keeping busy?
We made new friends:  Andy and Jemima who introduced us to this restaurant-Jack in the Green. http://www.jackinthegreen.uk.com/
This remote pub gives English food a new reputation.  Their commitment to local food sources and excellent cullinary skills makes the 30 minute trip to Exeter worth it!
Tonight, they introduced us to the champion  of curry houses here in Somerset- The Spice Gallery http://www.spicegallery.co.uk/
Along with pub food, the other mainstay in almost every British town is a curry house which serves Indian food catered to the English palate.
We have been breaking out our little grill on loan from our neighbors and trying all kind of new dishes with our English friends:
Vern, a friend who has just started his own line-caught Trout business, guided us through grilling a whole trout and carving the beautiful fish. http://www.streamfarm.co.uk/produce/streamfed-trout/.  I have now tried pulled pork from scratch, grilled courgett-sound exotic right? (AKA:Zuchinni), Cous cous, stuffed mushrooms, strawberry/rhubarb crumble, blueberry and peach cobbler, and other new menu items that have not turned out so well.
Apparently, every fun thing we have done involves friends and food.  Oh, but Jesse would also include the 100+ hours of world cup watching to the summer fun list.  Fun, except for the day America played so poorly and lost to Ghana.
