Madrid

After two months of short, dark days accompanied by an almost continuous drizzle, Jesse and I were quite ready for our trip to Spain.  I was ecstatic when I learned that my friends were going to make the Atlantic voyage to come visit.
The day of their flight, a record amount of snow fell on DC, which left us checking the Dulles website every hour, creating back-up travel scenarios, and watching gloomily as weather reporters repeated what we already knew.  Two days late, we flew into Spain, just happy that everyone made it out of Maryland.

With only one day in Madrid, we took time to visit the Reina Sofia, the home of Picaso's Guernica.
Madrid was Sarah's pick, so Caitlin and I indulged her affinity for modern art.   I would never pick us to truly appreciate a box with a mirror in it.  We may have goofed off a bit.
The Voice of God
We ran out of hours in Madrid, so we caught pics of the Cathedral Almudena and the outside of the Royal palace, but missed out on touring inside the largest palace in Western Europe.
Starving, we walked in a few circles to find the Taberna del Marciano, but all of us named it as a trip highlight.  The food was amazing.  Each tapa bar for the rest of the trip was measured up against our first taste of Spanish food.
We took the train out early the next morning headed toward Seville in Andalusia.
